I have no scars, at least physically (mentally is another story!). I took exquisite care of my hands, plus the people at the burn unit at ECMC here in Buffalo are amazing, and I got and wore custom-fitting compression gloves for a long time afterward. Yeah, the debridment is awful. My husband couldn't understand how I could do it. One day in the midst of doing it, I stood up and threw up from the pain. And went right back at it again. To think of someone being spared that agony, well, that's a remarkable thought!
I don't know if they can COMPLETELY forgo the debridment -- but at least you'd have to do it fewer times. And you noticed that his skin wasn't even scar tissue? Like, at all? Like it was 100% new non-scar-tissue skin?
This just boggles me. Like most animals, severe burns are one of my fears. The idea that they can heal them that well? Wow.
