You know why I don't play multiplayer online games? Because, if I wanted to interact with people in real time, I'd leave the house.

The respawn options in Outside really suck, and I can never find enough health potions.

This.

(Also, until we invent teleportation, portals, or other distant travel devices that do not take hours to use, sometimes the people I want to see are not in the same zone of outside I am. Sometimes not even the same server.)

Yeah, but the real killer bug for me is the clunkiness of the options for adjusting light levels.

(Also, way too much of it has gaps between buildings, full of weird green stuff, and that's scary.)

No, the REAL bug is the how they just never implemented any sort of BLOCK USER command. Someone's pestering you, you can't just block them. No /block, no /kick. There are some sort of kludges that are supposed to have some of the same functionality, but they really don't work.

I don't for the same reason, among others, but I'm fortunate in that my options for real-time interaction are numerous and desirable. If they weren't (such as if I moved in with my small-town relatives) I would play such games (and read more).

I don't do it because I don't have the spoons to be a feminist while I'm gaming, and I am a woman who games. I can *play* Halo and Dragon Age but I can't fight misogyny and game at the same time.

I can manage it face to face, which is sometimes a learning experience for both my tabletop taming groups. :)

Amen!

Like Linus said, "I love humanity; it's the people I can't stand."

For me, sometimes the best way to interact with people in real-time has been outside; sometimes the best way to interact with people in real-time has been online.

It's good to have both options.
