There are tasks that are gross enough that you only undertake them out of love and duty.

• the weeds around the side of the house
  
• the tree stump around the side of the house
  
• paper towels
  
• Q-tips
  
• hydrogen peroxide
  
• rubbing alcohol
  
• a paper clip
  
• Lysol Scrubbing Bubbles
  
• a toilet plunger due to some problems with the disposal of some of the above items.
  

But the task is done.

In my family, I'm the poop-scraper-offer, the american cockroach killer, or at least the disposer of cockroach corpses. (American cockroaches are sometimes called "water bugs", in a vain attempt to make them sound less horrifying than they are. At least up north, they don't fly. Often.)

Oh, yeah. I grew up on the Gulf Coast. Down there, cockroaches are not only large and capable of flying, they're also intelligent enough to fly straight at your face. Yetch.

Actually, I once amused a newcomer to our tropical paradise by demonstrating that a soup bowl inverted over a cockroach did not stop him, for he dragged the bowl with him. D
