I got lunch at our favorite American-style Chinese restaurant (you know what I mean -- not like what [livejournal.com profile] copperpoint is eating these days, and also not what you get in "Polynesian-Chinese" restaurants), and I got the best fortune cookie EVER at the end of it. Better than the one my sister got that one time, "You are not paranoid; we ARE out to get you."

It said, "You are about to become $8.95 poorer ($6.95 if you got the buffet)."

Why a spoon? Why not an axe, or...?

My understanding, from this blog post by Neil Gaiman where I originally found the song, is that it was written by Translucia Babboon (who is currently residing in the body of Alan Moore).

Thanks for sending the links. I didn't know that Alan Moore wrote V for Vendetta. I enjoyed reading his bio and about his interactions with the film industry. Things can certainly get strange when people are more interested in the money than the art.

My worst ever was: "Beware of friends, who will betray you."

This was at a catered lunch during trainig for a job I was fired from a week later.

I should mention that the training was the first week -- this job lasted a mere two weeks -- and then I got two weeks severance. Which, ultimately, is better than the people who stuck around until the company imploded.

My best remains "Lovers in triangle not on square", gotten when I was out to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan and my first second boyfriend.
