Apartment thingies.
Sep. 4th, 2003 10:38 pmWell, I showed the apartment to three people today. I also finished some of the tasks I set myself to get the apartment together.
Like -- I replaced eight two-prong outlets with grounded outlets! And I borrowed Dad's outlet-tester, and every single plug I wired up is grounded correctly, and the hot side's hot and the cold side's cold. The only screwed up outlets in the entire place were screwed up when I got there! Everything I did came out perfectly on the first try!
In the past week or so, Dad replaced the ceiling in the downstairs basement -- I helped some, but Dad did most of the work. Dad also did the lion's share of the work in replacing the guts of the toilet with brand-new toilet-guts, and he built new drawers for the kitchen.
I need to finish the drawer instalation, which should be simple enough, and then, over the weekend, Dad says he'll teach me how to put in keyed porcelan light fixtures (those are the really simple porcelan fixtures with a simple pull-chain on them -- they're the easiest kind of light to install, apparently).
marquisedea, this means that our long nightmare of dark basements may soon be over! (See, the lights in the basement have been out for, um, like three years now, and I've always INTENDED to fix that, but I kinda didn't know how.)
Woohoo!
