Or, since being last is probably almost as good as being first, if someone happened to have a name starting with only the very last letters, such as, say, Flynt....

Things are a little more complicated than that. The detail which regularly gets overlooked is that the order of the candidates rotates by district. So Rrrwqwoo would first on some ballots, last on others, and somewhere in the middle on the rest. The ballot order is a less big deal than media attention is making it out to be.

Indeed. In fact, I suspect that the most advantage goes to candidate #80 -- since there are eighty districts, and in each of them he is respectively #80, #79, .. #1. Thus he is never much more than halfway down the list, and the vast majority of the time on the front page.

It's been said (way down in my "could Bush use the military to preserve power" post) that "neocon" is a euphemism for "Jew." And it's been said that the current administration is run by neocons. And that the California recall was orchestrated by the administration.

So it's too late. They've already blamed the Jews. Indirectly, at least.
