Okay. This is insane. But maybe insane in a good way.

So, I need a job. I need a way to make money. I make $85/week, but that doesn't really make a dent in the amount of money we're hemmoraging each month since Lis lost her job.

We also go to a coach. Life coaching, job coaching -- someone who helps us plan priorities and make goals and follow through on them. And coaching got pretty . . . intense today. And Carol pointed out that I'd make a hell of a coach myself, since that's pretty much what I do anyway. I've already got all the skills.

So, here's the question: those of you reading this journal:

Would you pay me $30 a week for me to help you get your life together?

I'm serious. I'm offering. For $30, you'd get an hour of my time a week, plus extra phone calls and so forth, in which we'd work out what it is you want to do and how to do it, and I'd keep you on track in doing so.

How is this different from what I do with my friends now? I don't push with my friends. I listen. I don't offer advice, except very rarely. I support, I listen. But I don't advise or guide. Because I don't belive I can do those things unless I am asked to directly. And being paid to do that would count as being invited into that position.

I've only once or twice in my life been invited into that position with someone. And I did well.

I might give it a try, but I'm not sure I'm ready for coaching. Just a vote of confidence from someone who doesn't know you very well.

How much do you pay this coach of yours? Because if you're making 85 a week and paying this person 30 of it, I can spot a great way to save.

*Snicker*

Lis makes the money in the family. I'm a secondary income source. But I'd like to be a better one.

Oh, honey, gee.

If I'd pay anyone to do this it'd be you.

A.
with hugs and good luck wishes...

If I had the money, hell yes.

Let me see if I can scrape it up. After my student loans come next month, I'll know approximately where I stand financially.

If I had $30 a week to spend on such things, I'd definately give it a shot.

*ponders* What are your thoughts on doing relationships?

Although, for the one that I'm wondering this about, I'm not sure a coach is exactly what's needed; it seems more in need of a counselor to help find common ground between very disparate views of needful parts of relationships and such. Although maybe that's not that much different from coaching....

*shrug* I dunno.

That was something else I was considering doing. And I was actually specifically thinking about you and your loves when I was considering it, in that, from what I've seen from the outside, it looks like you've got a situation where there is a lot of emotional connection, desire to work on things, and good will, but a lot of differences on language, emotional processing, and what things mean. Which is the sort of situation where a third -- or, in this case, fifth -- party can sometimes help.

.... hell, if you'll do it long distance, I'll get in touch with you when I start getting regular work again. I'm in school (for a career), have interests in doing necklace-stuff for money, have spiritual-stuff that I want to work out... but this isn't really therapy-stuff, it's stuff that I'm just not sure how to do, how to get it all done, y'know? So if what you're talking about is sorting out such things, then I'm definitely interested. Let me know, and I'll write a note to myself to follow up with you when I can. :)

I was originally considering limiting it to Boston area, but Lis reminded me that, in 1876, someone made up a "far-speaking" device, and that we actually have one! Several, even.

Yes, I'd love to help if I can.

Most Excellent - I will make a note to myself, and keep my fingers crossed about getting employment before the end of the month. ;)

I think it's an excellent track for you to go into. I don't happen to need those services *knock wood* but I can probably give you referrals. :)

I've been kicking my own ass too much recently to need help :-)

*thoughtful frown* Ya know, if you're looking to work on the phone my company *is* hiring, even if they don't always pick the best people.

This kind of thing isn't for me because of the way authority figure issues feed into my bulimia - but I'd certainly trust you to do it if it wasn't contraindicated, as it were.

If you were still doing this, and if you weren't so intimately involved in my own goals already, I'd do it...

... just saying I respect your skill at this sort of thing.
