Why I don't dismiss Donald Trump out of hand.

A demagogue with silly hair getting crowds riled up with promises of restoring the lost glory of the country and also, mainly, racism, being completely dismissed by most people as unelectable, because he is so obviously crazy that nobody would vote for him, so there's nothing to worry about.

... I dunno. That sounds familiar somehow...

I have never been so upset to agree with you. Unfortunately, I'm related to some people who like him, and I could definitely see them supporting the idea of concentration camps.

Also, I have noticed that most of the rhetoric of Islamophobia is VERY close to the rhetoric of antisemitism (I mean it literally *is* anti-Semitism also, but meaning the rhetoric used against the Jews) of the last few centuries.

Ayup. I try to combat prejudice partially because it's the right thing to do, but also because it doesn't matter WHO they START being prejudiced against, eventually, they're going to get around to us.
