Which is worse -- when you make a joke and the person you make it to has no clue what you're talking about, or when someone else makes a joke, and you have no clue what they're talking about?

Oh, most definitely the former. 'Cause I feel like I have to explain it till they get the joke. Which is a trillion shades of awkward.
