I hate Facebook. But nobody in my family reads LiveJournal any more, and the crosspost functionality that I'd been using seems to have been broken again.

I'm Ian Osmond over there.

Nobody on my family ever read my LJ, which is why FB is so much better for casual things!

I seem to have sent you a friend request. In case you didn't recognise me I'm Nickie Roome.

isn't "nobody in my family reads LJ" a good reason to post (many things) to LJ rather than Facebook?

I would "like" this if LJ had that button.

What's funny is that, immediately after reading YOUR comment, and chuckling, I went to look for the like button for your comment. *rolls eyes at self*

There is, however, a userpic you can steal ;)

I am sad, but it's my choice to not use FB. I have enjoyed your writings and the comments we've exchanged.

I'm not GAFIATING here. It's just that a lot of my "brief thoughts that occur to me" end up there rather than here. Anything more than a couple paragraphs will still be here -- it's just that it used to be anything more than a couple words would be here.

Thanks for clarifying. I myself have a blogspot blog, a tumblr, and a twitter account as well as LJ and Dreamwidth. They have different purposes and different audiences. I wasn't criticizing your choice, just expressing that I would miss your writing here--and I'm glad I won't have to miss it, there will still be content here.

Aww! LJ mostly seems to be for fandom stuff these days.

I do both. Granted, I don't post as often here as I once did, but FB isn't any good for long posts - it is like "headline news" opposed to the "short essay" here.

That's basically it. But I used to post anything over a sentence here; now it's over two paragraphs or so.

That's the problem with social media. It really is about where the people are.

Still can't stand FB, though.

Well, I'm not going AWAY. I'm just posting my casual bon mots there rather than here.

This! Thank goodness Ian's not leaving LJ completely!
