So, we were just going over the timeline.
We met, briefly, when I got to Brandeis, September of 1992. I noticed that she was really cute, but no more so than a lot of the other really cute women at Brandeis. You know who you all are. We only started to get to know each other when her grandfather Nate was dying and I was in the process of flunking out, and we started helping each other out with emotional support -- that must have been early '94 or so?
We started hanging out more, and were both in Rich Pacheco's Paladium RPG. Our first date was December 21, 1994 (it was the winter solstice, and we were dating by the time of my 21st birthday in February of 1995. I think I moved in with her around March of 1996, and we got engaged in on Rosh Hashanna of 1997, I think. We were married June 13, 1999 -- that one I know for sure.
So, we've known each other for over 20 years -- over half my life. We've been dating for eighteen and a half years, although we never intended it to get serious. (It hasn't, by the way. It's still pretty silly and frivolous.) We've been engaged for, oh, somewhere around sixteen years, and married for fourteen.
It was the best decision I ever made, and Lis has somehow managed to convince herself that it wasn't a disastrous choice on her part. I blame something like the Fallacy of Sunk Costs for her opinion of me, but I'm not going to try to talk her out of it.
