... but perhaps we should keep in mind that she's the only Stark who is eating, and even BATHING, regularly. She's pretty much the only person in Westeros nobody particularly wants dead.

I'm actually a bit surprised that GRRM has given each of the Stark girls the adventure she would have chosen. It's more in the charater of the series to have had Arya stuck in the position of navigating a hostile Court while Sansa is sent haring accross Westeros with a blade in hand and mud in her teeth.

Then again that would have probably had them both dead within ten pages.

Also, Sansa was really unskilled in either area; unlike Cersei or Margaery, she saw court as some sort of happy fun heaven, and the political challenges are ones she's just not capable of meeting any more than the physical ones would be.

I'm of the opinion that the Sansa of the books was a little less hopelessly naive than the Sansa of the series. Once she's caught on to just how perilous her position is, she's quite capable of doing what she has to to keep her skin more or less intact.

Eating? Bathing? Considering there are only four Starks (unless you count Jon Snow) even BREATHING, I'd say she's doing pretty well. And Rickon doesn't really count, anyway, although at least in the show they've kept him with Bran, unlike in the books.

I like Sansa. Early in the first book, I think we side with Arya against her, in a sibling rivalry thing -- oh, Sansa is the annoying, pretty, bossy sister who all the adults like. But by the time both Stark girls are watching their father get beheaded and Sansa is being psychologically tortured by Joffrey, she's paid such an incredibly high price for her naive dreams, I really feel for her deeply.

It's true nobody wants her dead. They want other things from her, and that's also disturbing.
