I just got a robocall from Ann Coulter.

At 2:30 PM on election day. A robocall from Ann Coulter, to the bluest state in the Nation, a state that has had something similar to Obamacare for years, now, and really generally likes it, explaining how college-age Republicans need to band together to make sure that Obama doesn't get in, because, if he does, Obamacare will destroy the nation.

The only possible explanation is that one of the PACs had a little money left over, and somebody's brother-in-law owns a robocalling company in Massachusetts.

I got a robo-call yesterday to vote for the republican senate candidate... in Maryland. Um, no. Not even going to do that in NY.

I saw an article about some odd superPAC spending choices in the final days of the election, that basically said they had to spend all their money and had run out of useful places to spend it.

... and how about the robocalls in Florida telling people that the election was today?!! Oh, what fun I'd have wasting my money on phoney phone calls, if I had any money to waste. Maybe, just maybe, if corporations are no longer considered "people", if the Superpacs are better monitored, and if the tax cut for the wealthy goes away, then we won't have to suffer the stupidity of people who have so much money they don't know what to do with it all. Do I sound bitter at all? No, not me...

Actually, there's another possible explanation - if they were robo-calling a number range (as opposed to robo-calling a list of numbers generated in some more sophisticated way) then perhaps they just robo-called pretty much everybody (or a large subset). It is mostly not legal to robo-call a number range but I think it may be legal for the delivery of political messages, I am not sure. In any case, area code, due both to number portability and mobile phones, is no longer a particularly good predictor of the location of residence of a person.

That said, I did not receive this particular robo-call myself.
