Because of Memorial Day, the YMCA was closed. So my cousin and I went to the arcade instead. To play "Dance Dance Revolution."

There exists a video game which rewards cardiovascular fitness and rhythm.

It's basically a pretty simple video game. You, and a friend, stand at the machine. There are four arrows on the platform on your side, and four arrows on the platform on your friend's side. There's one in front of you, pointing front, one behind you, pointing back, one to your left side, pointing left, and one to your right side, pointing right.

Then you choose your difficulty level (you and your friend can have different difficulties), and the song you want to hear (at various speeds -- the fastest is 300 bpm), and the game starts giving you arrows. You need to step on the appropriate arrow, right on the beat. Or, at harder levels, the half-beat, quarter-beat, or triplet.

That's it. That's the game. Each song is two minutes, a game is something like four songs.

I think I may go back at some point when school is in session, so I don't have to look like a dork in front of the kids who are really good at the game. . .

...all you need is a PS2, the game, and a set of pads, and you can play at home, too.

I have been failing to convince [livejournal.com profile] jehanna that she really really wants to learn how so I can have somebody to play with, even though she claimed when I got the pads that she would...

I only wish the music were better.

If Xiphias wants to play DDR at home, I have an apartment he can do it in for most of June.

My gosh that sounds like fun! And gets rid of one of my huge disagreements with video games. :)

Hee!

Because of your review, I'm almost inspired to get DDR for my PS2 now!
