If I had the ability to do polls, this might be a poll. As it is, it will be a discussion, which I like better, anyway:

Resolved: a properly-made kneidel will bounce when dropped on a hard surface.

Y/y?

No, but it won't go squishy either. I like a middle road. That said, I'm happy to eat light fluffy ones too.

Why would you try to bounce a kneidle? I'm still hungry, and they're delicious!

Note: My mom's secret[1] recipe involves kneidelach which sink to the bottom of the pot at the beginning, but float when they're done. I don't think that we ever tried to bounce 'em.

[1] My mother's secret recipe was passed down from her mother, who got it from the box of matzo meal. I'm actually happy to share, if you want it too.

I've only had the pleasure once, and it was actually surprisingly light.

But honesty compels me to say that kneidel I know from nothing.

No way. Fluffy, yields easily to a spoon, holds its shape, floats.

Nah, I want my stomach to be able to digest it before I start eating the tzimmes instead of two weeks into the omer. I build 'em fluffy, but firm enough to survive the soup.
