I just bought the new Dixie Chicks CD. I cried during "Travelling Soldier." I mean, I've heard that song dozens of times, and I generally cry.

I just looked up the words...I think I'd like to hear that song. And, well, isn't that the point of sad songs? To bring those emotions?

Well, yeah, it is. But actually crying at it is sorta a sign that one is sappy. Not that that is a bad thing.

If your local country music station is not ClearChannel, then just call up and request it. It's one of the top singles, dispite the fact that the ClearChannel network of stations has decided to boycott the Dixie Chicks. If your local station is ClearChannel, write to them and complain.

It brings tears to my eyes too.

I like the way the pipes come in at the end, with the snare drum. There's a sort of a sad resolve to it that really underscores the tragedy, for me.
