Writer's Block: Father figure

[Error: unknown template qotd]

My father gave me three pieces of advice that have always stayed with me: "Everything that has a beginning has an end," "Never eat anything bigger than your head," and "If you got your head stuck in there, you can get it out again."

These have been among my guiding principles ever since.

so glad you remember your parental units' teachings - I hope they have stood you in good stead as you have matured - one correction, though: it was your mother who gave you the third piece of advice - when you were in preschool, you got your head wedged between the balusters on the stairs at your grandparents' house and you began to panic - I said "If you got your head stuck..." to calm you down so I could get you unstuck - it worked!

I feel like you could combine those three pieces of advice into one big ur-advisory, like "Never get your head stuck in anything smaller than you can eat until the end" or similar.
