For the heck of it, I signed up, Rose friended me, which immediately puts like ninety percent of friendster in my gallery. Started looking around at it.

Basically, everybody who lives in the Boston area that sounds, by the description they give, like someone I'd like, I know already.

I think that, if you're part of a community, and you're looking to expand your real-life connections to the community, and you've lived in one place for your entire life, friendster.com doesn't really add all that much. Although it did give me the ability to contact a bunch of people whose email addresses I've lost. . .

Ninety percent? Hardly. A lot of the people on my list are there because I pimped it on LJ, so they don't have too much connectivity to add.

it is sort of odd in that i have 13 friends so far, and 23000 people in my network! i wonder sometimes how exactly they count people. but, one of the other things i've noticed is that the more friends i add, it's not that i get more people in my network necessarily, it's that the connections get shorter. so, a person who used to be a 5 friend chain is now a 3.

there are people in the boston area i don't know, but i'm wary of contacting them. mmmmaybe at a later date, when i feel more settled.

however, cute avant garde artboys from FL are another matter. they're far away, and therefore, not as scary.

I'm not going to friendster just yet. Maybe some other year when I'm less busy.
