No. Everything that scared me when I was a young child continues to scare me today. I'm just better at dealing with the fear.

(20 mg of Lexapro a day seems to help with this, incidentally.)

I can't think of any childhood fears which I now think are silly. There are some I've overcome. And some things I was not afraid of which I really, really should have been, and am now, thankfully.

This is pretty much my reply as well.

Garbage trucks with arms, the kind that pick up dumpsters. It didn't occur to me that they were controlled by people, or that those arms don't bend the right way to pick up little girls.

Pool drains. Didn't help that the pool where I took swim lessons had a drain that looked like this huge black maw that would suck down any small boy that got too close. (Yes, I knew the Mr. Rogers song. No, it didn't help. In fact, it may have been what put the idea in my head in the first place.)

OH GOD. I was terribly afraid of pool drains. I wouldn't even let my feet touch the ones in the shallow end. I do think it was a bit silly in retrospect.

I was afraid of dogs for many years because I was bit at the age of about 3 or 4 (and then again several times as a child and adolescent). I was well into my late 20s or early 30s before I could act at all normal around even the gentlest dogs.

I wouldn't call the fear "silly", however.
