I haven't seen any photos yet of the bare rockface; NECN.com has a video, but I couldn't tell whether any of it was new footage or if it was all stock.
When I lived in NH 10 years ago there was a lot of discussion as to whether the Old Man of the Mountain should continue to be painstakingly maintained (it already had some wire holding it together) at state cost. Apparently the answer was no.
Doesn't that miss the point? The whole point of the thing is that. . .
