I like and admire Batman; but I don't read Batman. Because the Batman in the comics lacks the ability to change his world for the better. He may be able to stop a particular threat, but he will never be permitted to solve the actual problem - the structure of the comic book series doesn't allow it.

The same is true of the 80's and 90's X-men and their associates. In fact in the real world what they were doing (by hiding their identities) would have made the situation worse. So I stopped reading.
