Saw my niece and nephew tonight

Also, two other friends who got married a month and a half ago -- in California, so Lis and I weren't able to get to the wedding. But they're REALLY cute together.
Anyway -- my nephew Drew. He's seven.
The University of Vermont women's hockey team had a "Kid's Press Night", where children could go, get up onto the podium, and ask questions of team members. Drew had a question for sophomore forward Teddy Fortin:
Q: "Do you have a boyfriend?"
A: "No"
Followup question: "Will you be my girlfriend?"
A: "Sure!"
Drew takes this seriously, and entirely matter-of-fact-ly. He has perfect confidence that, of COURSE a college woman would be interested in him. He's CLEARLY that much of a catch. He's not conceited, exactly -- just so self-assured that no other conclusion would occur to him.
Anyway, he sent her a Valentine. The next game, she gave him the hockey stick that she'd scored her most recent goal with -- and she'd had the entire team sign it for him.
Other teammates have looked at him and said, "Oh! You must be Drew -- I recognize you from your picture Teddy's got hanging on her walll."
Drew and his parents get to sit in the players' area of the stands, front row directly behind the net.
Also, when I was playing checkers with my eleven-year-old niece Winter, we got to the endgame, and found ourselves in a kings' chase. She managed to wipe one of them out, and it wasn't many turns later that she managed to trap me and win the game.
After, she said, "You know, that last part of the game was just like the Battle of Saratoga in the Revolutionary War: once I had two units to your one, it was only a matter of time."
