So, it was just a brief sentence in passing. The newscaster said that the Pentagon said that they had damaged Al Qaeda's ability to expand, because they had captured or killed many of the people who made videos which attracted disaffected Muslim youth.

To me, that says that they have decided that, in Iraq, dissent and free speech are death-penalty offenses.

Well, there is that end of it, or it really could be looked at as similar to cracking down on Fox making shit up and selling it as news. I mean, I think stronger issue is the hypocrisy, letting Fox win lawsuits against them for rewriting the news, and executing people in Iraq for making sensationalist propaganda to convince poor kids to blow themselves up so they can get laid in heaven. Let's face it, there may be more deaths resulting from the videos in Iraq, but Fox fucks up the minds of millions of impressionable idiots with guns.

I guess that in Iraq or Afganistan if you make videos of attacks on US forces, then if they catch you, they'll kill you.

That's not a freedom of speech or dissent issue...it's an attack on the enemy, which is what Al Qaeda is.
