(For those who don't know what "GIP" means, it means "Gratuitous Icon Post" -- a post which exists solely to show off your new usericon.)

Yeah, I've got the Basic Account, so I only get six userpics. But, well, I only USE one of them. Heck, with my six userpics, I only had five of the slots filled. But now I've filled my sixth slot, with an icon that Lis built for me. If I ever thought about such things -- which I don't -- I'd use this icon for my bartending posts.

Of course, in fact, this is probably the last time I'll ever remember that I have it. But -- it's on my business cards.

That is adorable. I can't help visualizing the fish stabbing an olive. It's not there in the picture, but it's there in my head.

That was the other version that Lis made up. Do you think that would be better? We've already printed this batch of cards, but we can do it the other way for the next version.

Hm. It would depend on what it looked like. In the no-olive version, the fish looks a little like it's about to fall out of the glass. The olive might make it look more stable, or it might be confusing, if the lines intersected such that it was hard to identify it as an olive.

FWIW, here's the alternate version I came up with:

I like them both.

I like the olive version - but then, I'm partial to olives - used to have three with my martinis. I think the bartenders liked that I asked for three olives - could they use less gin that way?

if you put apt keywords on the icon ("bartending", "drinks", etc, perhaps) then I think LJ will pick the appropriate icon for that post, accordingly :)

ah, I think it may be only if the mood contains the keywords... so if you don't set the mood frequently, maybe not :P sorry!

Thank you.

I had the idea ages ago, but execution (putting things together at a high enough resolution not to look blocky) took time.

Heheh. Before I even read this I thought "Hey! New icon!"

I like it, though I wonder what sort of cocktail that's the proper garnish for.

Password?

Sorry, I immediately thought of:

Baravelli: ...you can't come in unless you give the password.
Professor Wagstaff: Well, what is the password?
Baravelli: Aw, no. You gotta tell me. Hey, I tell what I do. I give you three guesses. It's the name of a fish.
[After several unsuccessful guesses]
Baravelli: Hey, what's-a matter, you no understand English? You can't come in here unless you say, "Swordfish." Now I'll give you one more guess.
Professor Wagstaff: ...swordfish, swordfish... I think I got it. Is it "swordfish"?
Baravelli: Hah. That's-a it. You guess it.
Professor Wagstaff: Pretty good, eh?

Well, you know that that is more-or-less the reason my name is "Xiphias", and my default icon is a swordfish, right?

Oh -- also, total non-sequitor, but something I thought you'd be interested in: Google can automatically convert into and out of the Potzrebie system of measurement. . .

Love the icon, both with and without the olive.

Great icon! I bet they are awesome business cards. So what is the name of the drink pictured? Swordtini? Xiphtini? Sharptini? Poketini? Maybe "teeny-fish".
