Stop fucking changing my UI on me!

On my login page, there's a little text field which says "Find". Next to it is a drop-down list of fields you can search on. Used to be that the top, and therefore default, field was "Site and User", meaning that I could just type an LJ username into that field and hit find, and go to their journal. Easier for me than editing the URL, by a little bit -- fewer keystrokes.

Then they changed the top and therefore default field to "Interests". Perhaps people more typically search on Interests, but it kept -- and keeps -- throwing me.

Used to be that, on my login page, the first thing on the dropdown menu under "Friends" was "Friends Page". Now, if you just click on it, you go to your friends page, plus there are two other links on the page that go to your Friends Page. Which is easier. And the first thing on the dropdown list is "Filter Friends."

Now, in all honesty, this UI DOES make more sense. But I still find myself staring at the "Filter Friends" page EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN' TIME I log in, without understanding how I got there.

I'll get used to it, and, like I said, this actually IS a better UI. But stuff like navigating LJ is something I do unconsciously, habitually. It doesn't go through my conscious mind, and so it takes me time to re-train.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I am slowly adjusting to the fact that clicking "Friends" in Horizon now gets me a friends page instead of a blank page with the equivalent of "what would you like to do today?" on it. This is a lot better, but even good change is change. :P

Many changes ago, they told us that if we wanted to keep the old default interface as is, do XYZ. I did xyz, and am happy with the result, but wish I knew what xyz is, because my other LJ doesn't have xyz, and that style is much more suck.

I'm still grumpy that they've removed the "My LJ" portal from the obligatory top-of-the-page navigation bar. It's my preferred entry into LJ, because it lists all my friends in a format that allows me to click their names and go straight to their journals, rather than to their userinfo pages (as happens from the list on my own userinfo page). And the "Home" page that replaced it is, IMO, useless to anyone who's not brand-new to LJ.

I'm still using the interface form three changes ago or so. I don't like drop-downs. :P

Yes... I'm also annoyed, especially because I get different UI at different times - maybe it's because I'm on different machines... anyway, the UI will randomly change, and then randomly change back, except when it doesn't.

I guess one advantage is that I've never actually gotten trained to any specific version... although that's happened to me with other things, so I know what it's like.
