So, as all of you who play WoW know, different races dance differently. But have you ever wondered from where Blizzard actually GOT the specific dance moves?

Obviously, this fellow did. And did some research.

I'm not sure what upsets me more, that I think I've seen the Bollywood flick that I think they lifted one of the dances from (and possibly have seen it multiple times on the telly at Pujabi Dhaba), or that I immediately knew who Alizée is, which probably certainly qualifies me as a dirty old man.

I'm guessing Alizée is the french girl with the great ass?

Who is the woman you referred to? Were you talking about the woman in the black outfit who had the close up segment?

What is World of Warcraft anyway?

Yeah, the full video can be found here, but you've already got the basics. She's sort of a French Britney Spears, only her life isn't half as fucked up and her husband isn't a total sleeze, which I guess makes her nothing at all like Britney.

I totally forgot to answer the 2nd question:

World of Warcraft is a massively-multiplayer online role playing game, a la Second Life, but with more swords. It's sufficiently compelling (read: addictive) that some people have trouble stepping away from the game to have a real life (said the man who is online 18 hours a day).

A little more on World of Warcraft:

Do you remember the computer game "Warcraft", where you could play humans or orcs, and you sent your peasants or peons to harvest gold and trees, and you built buildings and made armies, and attempted to destroy the other side?

Well, Blizzard, the company that made that game, continued to make other games in that world. And they eventually made a game where you could play a specfic orc, human, ogre, dwarf, gnome, or whatever -- and play it online, with several hundred thousand of your friends.

One of the reasons that the game is so addictive, I think, is that, besides going around fighting things -- which you can do a lot -- you can do other things. Like, for instance, dancing. Every single race has two dances, one for male characters and one for female characters. And, as you can see, every single race's dance is different.

Blizzard puts in just plain random fun stuff like that. For instance, they put in quests for different holidays. On Valentine's Day, they have Valentine's Day card delivery quests. On Halloween, you can get costume potions which give you costumes. Stuff like that.

My downstairs neighbor is addicted to the game, which is how I know this stuff -- I don't play it myself.

*googles* huh, Alizée's material is written by Mylène Farmer. That's interesting.

search YouTube for more, if you want. Most of her work appears to be slickly produced late 80s/early 90s-style dance/synth-pop in a similar vein to those two songs.

ObDirtyOldMan: she's seriously easy on the eyes.

Which looks more accurate to you? In that one, each of the ones which I think really IS the source is also in the one I linked to. And some of them are just plain wrong. He decided that the "goth female hand waving" was belly dancing, and that one that was obviously belly dancing was . . . something else. And most of them are just plain random.

He did pick up that one of the dances is capoera, but clearly hadn't found the actual caporera mestere who was the source of it. And he picked up on the headbanging, but, again, not the actual SOURCE of the headbanging.

I have never actually played, and I end up taking other's word for it that the animations have not been modified. I was just tossing out another item that came up out of curiousity.

Do you think the first one avoided the Britney Spears vid out of lawsuit fears?

According to comments -- that was a video of Brtney's choreographer. And he used that one because it was pretty clearly the source for the video -- the Britney moves didn't quite match.

Daler Mendhi and his song Tunak Tunak Tun has actually been a bit of a joke for a few friends of mine that dates back to maybe 8-9 years ago. it's hard for me to peg exactly when we found it, but I literally died laughing when I saw the male Draenai dance for the first time. Nobody else really appreciated it, but oh well ...

I'm glad to see that the EMTs managed to resuscitate you, then, if you literally died!

Actually, it was a friend and it was very Pulp Fiction-like

(I used the word literally 'cause I *thought* I remember seeing you snark someone for saying "literally out of this world!")
heh ;)
