So, as all of you who play WoW know, different races dance differently. But have you ever wondered from where Blizzard actually GOT the specific dance moves?
Obviously, this fellow did. And did some research.

Date: 2007-08-20 05:13 am (UTC)World of Warcraft is a massively-multiplayer online role playing game, a la Second Life, but with more swords. It's sufficiently compelling (read: addictive) that some people have trouble stepping away from the game to have a real life (said the man who is online 18 hours a day).

Date: 2007-08-21 02:39 pm (UTC)Do you remember the computer game "Warcraft", where you could play humans or orcs, and you sent your peasants or peons to harvest gold and trees, and you built buildings and made armies, and attempted to destroy the other side?
Well, Blizzard, the company that made that game, continued to make other games in that world. And they eventually made a game where you could play a specfic orc, human, ogre, dwarf, gnome, or whatever -- and play it online, with several hundred thousand of your friends.
One of the reasons that the game is so addictive, I think, is that, besides going around fighting things -- which you can do a lot -- you can do other things. Like, for instance, dancing. Every single race has two dances, one for male characters and one for female characters. And, as you can see, every single race's dance is different.
Blizzard puts in just plain random fun stuff like that. For instance, they put in quests for different holidays. On Valentine's Day, they have Valentine's Day card delivery quests. On Halloween, you can get costume potions which give you costumes. Stuff like that.
My downstairs neighbor is addicted to the game, which is how I know this stuff -- I don't play it myself.

search YouTube for more, if you want. Most of her work appears to be slickly produced late 80s/early 90s-style dance/synth-pop in a similar vein to those two songs.

Date: 2007-08-21 02:33 pm (UTC)He did pick up that one of the dances is capoera, but clearly hadn't found the actual caporera mestere who was the source of it. And he picked up on the headbanging, but, again, not the actual SOURCE of the headbanging.
