See, yesterday, Lis wanted cupcakes, and we didn't have sour cream, so I substituted yogurt, but we didn't have plain yogurt, so I used strawberry yogurt, and, as long as I was using strawberry yogurt, I might as well put in some strawberry jam to punch up the strawberryness of it all, and Lis made the idle commen that she liked Twinkee filling, so I tried to make some, and it didn't turn out exactly like Twinkee filling, but it was good, so I put it on some of the cupcakes. Yum.

That's what I started with, but we didn't have shortening, so I used butter instead.

Ah, well, there's your mistake - trying to use something with actual food value.

In faux Twinkie filling, as in faux Oreo filling, Crisco is the key.

Which is fairly scary, when you think about it... (-:

I'm feeling all insulin-shocky just thinking about this.
