So, Lis and I saw it today, at one of those pub/movie theater places, Chunky's in Haverhill.
It was good, if not AMAZING.
I can't say that "many scenes were taken from better movies", because they were mainly taken from movies that were about as good as it. I suppose everyone who's seen it had Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark flashbacks while watching it. It was better than Jedi, and not as good as Raiders.
I was really rather annoyed that every single non-white crewmember died. I mean, bad guys capture the crew, and put them in two, well, hamster balls, splitting them up Caucasians in one and Everyone Else in the other, and only one hamster ball makes it.
I was happy when we first saw the crew of the Black Pearl, and they were actually as multi-ethnic as pirate crews usually were -- black, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Turkish, and European -- but then they kill off everyone but the Europeans. Very jarring.
Other than that, I did turn to Lis and ask what the hell the East India Company was doing in the West Indies.
Still, it wasn't bad for the middle movie in a trilogy.
