Lis's grandmother is not doing well. So we're taking that weekend to fly out to Chicago. In case it's our chance to say goodbye. I don't like missing Arisia, but family comes first.
You are making the right decision. When my grandfather fell ill this fall I decided to forgo studying for a weekend and go down to see him. I was so very glad I did as he passed away just a few weeks after falling ill. There are some things more important than being in the top third of the class.
If you've already gotten your memberships, write reg@arisia.org and ask them to be forwarded to next year because of family illness. (You can do this once.) If you had a hotel room, email innkeeper@arisia.org, and let him know you're cancelling it.
I'm sorry I won't get to meet you at Arisia, though it's likely yours will be a familiar face. Maybe we'll see eachother at Boskone.
