So, it basically feels like the worst flu I've had ever. Muscle aches mainly, with some headache which feels like a stress reaction to the muscle ache in my neck. It feels as if my body is cannibalizing the protein it needs to fix my gums from muscles and joints all over my body. So I'm doing my best to eat as much protein as I can, without chewing. Yogurt drinks, chicken soup, a soy protein drink Lis got me from Wild Oats (man, that was nasty, but it had 18 grams of protein in it), two eggs blended into two cups of milk with a bunch of honey.

I still can't really open my mouth very far, and my mouth and jaw is still a little sore, but not too bad. And if I don't move, it doesn't feel too bad. But when I try to move -- like getting into or out of bed, or standing up, or sitting down, well, THAT hurts. I have found ways to get out of bed, but it's a procedure -- rolling this way, sliding my legs that way, using my hands to pick up my legs to slide them that way, then sliding out of bed onto the floor in a mostly upright position, then pulling myself standing using the bed for support. It's not too bad as long as I take it slowly and carefully.

Thanks for the update...

...I've been feeling lonely today, and I really wish I could hear your voice, but it isn't worth getting you up out of bed. But this is a good second choice, so to speak.

Heh. I don't actually have much voice to hear . . .

That would be another reason this is a better media for communication at the moment. It's nice to hear from you.

You may be dealing with some of the aftereffects of the anesthetic, as well as the aftereffects of the surgery itself.

Be sure to get enough fluids, as well as enough protein. I know the temptation to just use your mouth a lot LESS. Some protein drinks are, indeed, nasty. I rather like the Bolthouse Farms version of Vanilla Chai Tea with Soy Protein...it tastes almost like sweet tea mixed with vanilla soy milk.

Well, I can fortunately drink water with minimal pain, so I'm doing that, too. And the fact that everything I can consume comes in liquid form anyway is probably not harming the process, either.

Your method of getting up sounds a lot like mine. I refer to it as the "beached whale" method. Hope you don't have to use it much longer! Hugs and skritches all around, as appropriate.

So sorry you had to go through this and glad that you are better now. Also glad that I was out of town for your ordeal - I can't stand to see my kids in pain.
