Migraines . . .
Jan. 16th, 2003 10:32 pmSo much fun . . .
It started around two in the afternoon, got bad enough that I couldn't really function by four; by seven or eight, I was lying in bed writhing in pain, in that lovely state where one is thinking, "If I move, it hurts worse. But if I don't get to the bathroom, I'll have to lie here in my own vomit. So, do I want to puke in the bathroom, which involves moving, or right here?" I did manage to make it to the bathroom four times to throw up. The nausea is part of how I get migraines. It's now ten thirty, and it's mostly over, to the point that I can post this.

Date: 2003-01-16 08:05 pm (UTC)I've gotten the "I hurt enough to vomit" migraine once. That was once too many. My sympathies in their entirety.

I know you had to be on the mend to even type this, but I wish I could send you retroactive healing vibes or something. No, I wish I could make you never have migraines again. That would be better by far.

Date: 2003-01-21 06:06 am (UTC)I get the occasional migraine, by which I mean a very painful localized headache, located right behind my eyes, that at its worst causes some sensitivity to light or sound. (Every once in a while I actually have to take a sick day from work for this--luckily, only two or three times in the two years I've worked at my current job.) I've never figured out what affects its severity, or what causes a normal headache to turn into a migraine. My head just plain hurts a lot of the time. This has been diagnosed as a combination of stress and eyestrain. It has gotten much, much better since I began my current job, which involves less stress and allows me to get more sleep, but if you hang around with me after about 5 pm you're likely to hear me whinge a lot. :)
