Blood work is all fine, including thyroid. So long as they were taking blood, they tested that, too, and that's fine.

Urine -- no crystals, no infection. But blood.

What is it? Dunno. Could be a bladder stone, maybe. So, on Monday, we're going to take her in for an x-ray.

I asked if it could be just a needlestick -- the way they get urine samples is straight through the stomach to the bladder, and I asked if she squirmed, it could have been from that. The vet confirmed that that sort of thing CAN happen, but didn't this time, because it was a "free capture" -- Boopsie pissed on the table and they got the sample that way. . .

Ah, good old "free captures". I once took my trio of cats for their check-ups, along with a stool sample from the litter box. They asked whose it was and I shrugged. Then, before they started the analysis, I caught a whiff from one of the carriers, handed it to them, and said "this one's from Baldur". They were nice enough to clean the carrier for me, too. :-)

If Boopsie urinated on the table without pressure on her bladder, it's likely that her bladder was either very full or very irritated. Even if no stones show up on x-ray, she could have them. There are some stones that are flat and thin, and don't show up well on conventional x-ray. I can't remember whether or not ultrasound does a better job of finding this kind of stone. If the x-ray is normal, you might ask your vet about this. Unfortunately, some urinary stones are extremely difficult to find. Another question which might be useful to ask is whether it would be safe to treat Boopsie as if she had a stone or crystals, even if everything appears normal. That would mean giving her a more acidic food or a urinary acidifier.

Good luck! I know from experience how frustrating it is to have a cat with chronic urinary problems.

For what it's worth, when Ra had some blood in his urine, the vet said it was an infection. Whatever it was, it got better on its own.

I think it was a similar situation with Eliza, and the vet said it could be 'interstitial cystits'. Basically, every now and then her bladder gets inflamed and irritated for no discernible reason. Except she hasn't had similar problems since then, so maybe it was just some kind of non-recurrent cystitis.

::hugs Boopsie::

I hope she's all right and that it turns out not to be too serious.
