Christmas Eve stuff

xiphiasThat was fun. My Mom and Dad phoned up around four thirty to ask if we wanted to go out for Chinese Food. . .
As it turned out, the place we were thinking about for Chinese food was closed, and Lis isn't overly fond of the other place that's close. So we went to Sushi Corner in Melrose Center instead. We all ate way too much sushi, and Mom and Dad gave Lis her last Channukah present: a Giles action figure.
Afterwards, we dropped by the drug store to get something for Mom's toothache, swung by the library to look at the Statue of the Young Reader, which Lis and I once dressed up as Harry Potter, and then we went down Lynn Fells Parkway to look at the Christmas lights. Mom and Dad were duly impressed, and now understand that I've recalibrated my ideas of "tacky". See, unless your Christmas decorations include Santa Claus at a strobe nativity scene and use over 50 kilowatts, you don't even register.
Then we went home to apply other home remedies to Mom's toothache. She had absinthe, Chartreuse, rye, saki, mojito (rum with lime and mint), and Hendrick's gin. Dad was very impressed when we demonstrated that both the absinthe and the Chartreuse are highly flammable. Quote: "Your sink is on fire."
Mom did drink less than an ounce of each of the alcohols, but Mom doesn't drink, and has a very low alcohol tolerance. When she left, she was singing, "Patina, patina, patina, patina."
I should point out that Mom is only marginally sillier drunk than sober.
