Every once in a while -- okay, quite often, really -- I wonder whether my cooking more properly belongs in [livejournal.com profile] food_porn or [livejournal.com profile] failed_recipe. Sometimes, it could probably go in both.

"Hmm. I wonder what the actual, official conversion rate is from 'fresh garlic' to the 'minced garlic in the jar' that I tend to use. Let's see. Look at the jar. . . '1/2 Teaspoon = 1 Clove of Garlic.' Okay. How much did I just use in that recipe? Oh, I guess that looks like, oh, maybe a cup or so. So, what does that work out to? Hmm. Maybe something like a hundred cloves of garlic. Well, I told Lis I was making 'garlic-butter sauce' for the tortelini, not 'butter-garlic sauce', so I guess it's okay."

Yeah. I like garlic. And I know how this recipe will turn out, and it actually IS what I'm going for. But I hadn't ever really worked out just how much garlic I tend to use. . .

I don't think I'd have stopped to do conversions before thinking that a cup is a lot of garlic when you're cooking for two people.

But. . . but . . . but . . . it's MINCED garlic! And we've got enough leftovers to have another meal for one of us, so it was really THREE servings, not TWO. So it's not that bad. . .

I didn't say it was bad: I said it was lots of garlic.

At least you need never worry about being attacked by vampires.

Of course, some people might consider that a bad side effect.

Hey, 40-clove garlic chicken is yummy, so why not 100-clove garlic tortellini?

Wow, even I have never used a cup of the minced garlic all at once. You are welcome to cook for me anytime. :-)
