So, I spent most of the night in the bathroom, puking and stuff. Food poisoning, I suspect. I'm feeling mostly better today, but the thing which worries me is that, yesterday morning, I was 200 pounds. Today, I'm 192 pounds.

Eeeew.

I lost eight pounds of water weight in one day. I suspect I'm really, really dehydrated now. . . I've been drinking small amounts of water, but my stomach cramps if I drink too much. I don't think I'm going to eat anything with calories in it for a while, though. . .

poor thing.

try tepid water instead of cold, and maybe a little ginger tea? (Ginger root boiled in water, potentially with honey or sugar)

Feel better!

I only drink room-temperature water, anyway. I have gotten very thankful for cold bathroom floor tile, though -- lying down on the cold floor has helped quite a bit.

By the way, I finished Hammered last night, partially because, well, I wasn't sleeping, anyway. . . can't wait for Scardown

Well, glad to be of service as a distraction, in any case.

Cold bathroom tile is a wonderful thing.....

Oh, the sick.

Try Gatorade? If it tastes good, then you know that you're dehydrated.

There's a 24-hour stomach virus going around. A bunch of my friends have had it in the last week.

I've read that most '24 hour stomach viruses' are actually food poisoning. Food poisoning is a lot more common than most people realize.

And a lot more frustrating when you get it from food in a restaurant where you work. After that happened to me twice last summer, I started bringing cans of spaghetti-o's to work to eat during breaks on long shifts.

Several doctors have told me that apple juice sits better on the stomach than water, when you're having nausea trouble. You might try it, if it is something you can drink in general anyway.

That's very interesting. Anecdotal evidence indicates that apple juice will often *make* you puke, if you're already nauseated.

There's always ginger ale. My mom always gave me that when I had an upset stomach and it helped to get things down, both liquid and solid. Also, as far as soda goes, ginger ale has the closest pH level to drinking water (which is not 7, because of additives like fluoride). :)

Oh, no! You poor thing. I second the ginger thing - also, cold wet facecloths to the forehead can help a lot. If you can manage something very very plain - the plainest crackers you can find - that's more likely to stay properly in place than water alone, generally.

I hope you recover soon. My mother used to feed us crackers and flat 7-up.

Flat ginger ale was the only thing I was managing during my most recent bout.

I hope you feel better soon.

Blah. All that ginger ale. That's all my mum used to give me when I was sick, and now if I try to drink it when I'm healthy it makes me feel sick. I can't even take the smell of it when I'm healthy. Strangely enough, it still does the trick when I'm unhealthy though.

yucky. And if you can't keep more than small amounts of water down, you should be drinking something with electrolytes in it (gatorade, powerade, pedialite, etc.). If you continue to not be able to keep liquids down, you should call your doctor.

I do hope you feel better!

I've been putting salt in seltzer. Works well. Anyway, I'm better now.

First of all: I'm glad you're feeling better (read that last post of yours there).

Second: In the future, while I hate to say it, Pedialite brand popsicles do work. Taste like crap, but they do work (after all, they're meant for just this sort of thing). Oh, and according to my 6-yr-old nephew, the blue ones are the best.
