Pretty much. I tried to take it. Every ounce of background in economics, political philosophy, and sociology screamed and threatened to leave my body if I did not stop.

Way back in the late '80s, I took a college sociology class, and one of the books we were assigned was called something like "Class". It could have been Class : A Guide Through The American Status System, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyhow, one of the things that book had was a quiz at the back where you could figure out your social class by the stuff in your living room. It's probably a bit out of date by now (the version on Amazon, if indeed it's the same book, was "reissued" 12 years ago, and things change...), but I remember it as being amusing. More amusing than this quiz, which put me at 75% "Alternative".

Haha, I wonder what that quiz would do for me, considering our living room consists of a TV, two couches, a couple of other seats and a table and NO BOOKS... all the bookcases and the computer table (which is made up of boxes of books) are in another room...

Hmm... I'm not sure. As I recall, part of the thesis was that those who are really upper class are less likely to have really fancy/pretentious stuff in their living room. So if you had an expensive oriental rug there, you're middle class; a worn oriental rug is upper class...

I remember my reaction being, "Well, my parents have a worn oriental rug in the living room, but I think it's because they like it, not because of class"
