For the most part, I really like the song, although I observe that Cohen is like Bob Dylan in that his voice isn't really up to the brilliance of the stuff he writes, so I tend to like covers of their stuff better than the originals. But there's one part that bothers me.
"It goes like this: / A fourth, a fifth, / A minor fall / A major lift."

"A fourth, a fifth" are a fourth and a fifth above the tonic. "A major lift" is a major second lift. And "a minor fall" -- is a unison. And it would have worked as a minor second fall.

Why isn't "a minor fall" a minor fall? That just annoys me, and when I sing it, I sing it with a minor fall, because it SHOULD have one, no matter what Cohen says.
