Movies and things

First: Bend It Like Beckham is a really fun movie. Everyone should go see it, whether or not they're British, play soccer/football, or are Indian.

Second: when we got home, Lis mentioned that she really wanted something fruit punch-like to drink, and consdiered sending me out to the store for some.

I said, "Wait a minute," and mixed pinapple juice, orange juice, lemon juice, sugar, Malibu, Triple Sec, Marischino liqueur, strawberry schnapps, U-Bet black cherry syrup, Kedem raspberry syrup, grenadine, and Sprite. Basically, I shook all but the Sprite, poured into a highball glass, and topped off with Sprite.

Lis rather liked it. I think it would have been a bit better had we had sloe gin, but this was good.

Third: Lis rented a Saturday Night Live videotape, because she claimed that the show had once been funny, and I didn't believe her.

You have to remember that the show stopped being funny in, like, 1980 or so. When I was six years old. It apparently has had funny seasons and casts since then, but I became aware of the show during The Suckful Years, and hence, have always reacted with skepticism to claims that the show was once funny. But, in fact, it was.

And now, a thirteen word rumor with a little something for almost everybody on my friends list. . .

Elton John is working on a musical based on Interview With the Vampire.

Sometimes I suspect. . .

. . . that polyamory is simply a way to allow people to have, simultaneously, the psychodrama, acute stress, and uncertanty of dating, and all the annoyance, tedium, and chronic stress of long-term settled relationships.
