Part two of yesterday.

Yeah, so I got up to about noon for yesterday. Let's see if I can remember the rest of the day . . .
I came home and puttered around the house a bit. Eventually, Lis and I decided that we wanted pizza and ice cream, so we walked down to a pizza place and got a couple slices and a gyro. Then we drove and got ice cream.
Then I dropped Lis off and drove down to MIT at around 4:30, 5 or so. 'Cause I'd decided to audition for the chorus of Iolanthe that
navrins and
greenlilly and folks were putting on.
I got in. I've not been on stage since high school (well, okay, I played a set or two at Cholmondely's at Brandeis, but that doesn't count, exactly). . . I'm moderately terrified. But it's only the chorus, so I'll be fine. I've got a score, so I need to start learning the music for the bass chorus.
Then I drove over to
gilana's Bithday Luau. Which was a blast. I didn't know very many people when I got there, but everyone was hugely nice and friendly, so I knew everyone by the time I left.
Anyway, after a couple hours,
tapuz,
laurens10,
gnomi, and
mabfan showed up, none of whom I see often enough.
(Actually, there's NOBODY on my friends list that I see enough, frankly. 'Cept MAYBE
cheshyre, and that's 'cause I see her an average of 16 hours a day or so. And I could do with seeing her more. But that's besides the point.)
Turns out
mabfan is a huge fan of Iolanthe -- it's his favorite G&S play. He's got the entire thing memorized, can sing most of the parts from memory. I told him he should audition, but he pointed out that he's shomer shabbat, which would make things a bit tricky. He did, however, let me know that, if we screw this play up, he's going to personally beat all of us up. 'Cause it's his favorite.
So, everybody -- if you want to be beaten up by Michael Burstein, just screw up Iolanthe. I mean, he IS cute and I'm sure SOME of us involved with the musical are kinked.
Somehow, I don't suppose that's what he meant, though.
I also got to see
chanaleh and lots of other folks, whose LJ names are escaping me at the moment. I had a total blast, met lots of cool people, and think that Gilly should have birthdays EVERY year.
Gilly also has an inflatable sukkah.
She kicked us all out at 10:30 or 11 or so, because she'd been partying for over 24 hours or so by that point, and needed to work in the morning.
So, yay yesterday. Was cool.
