How to tell if you kitten is dumb.
Sep. 9th, 2004 04:16 pmViolet was sleeping in the bathroom sink. Lis wanted to know what would happen if we turned the water on. So we did.
Violet sat there, baffled, until we turned the water up higher, and she eventually moved. Then we turned the water off. And she went back into the sink and went back to sleep. So we turned the water back on. And she woke up and looked at the water streaming down her side, and went back to sleep. So we turned the water up higher. And she woke up again, and looked at the water, and went back to sleep. So we turned the water up even higher, and she started licking her side to dry it off. Not anywhere near the damp parts of her side, you understand -- just sort of randomly. By happenstance, she eventually started licking a part of her side near the part that was wet, and thereby stuck her head under the faucet.
This startled her. She was confused. So she did it again. It startled her again. And she did it again. It startled her again, and she stood up and turned around to see what was wet. And she leaned in to sniff at the water, and stuck her nose under the faucet.
At this point, Lis was having trouble breathing from laughing, so we stopped.
And that is how we know our kitten is dumb.

Date: 2004-09-09 03:13 pm (UTC)I keep telling the kittens "Go play with Boopsie! Remember, she only hisses because she loves you!" as they trot up the stairs. Isn't it fun living with beasts who don't understand English? :)
