So, I've got to work out how I'm teaching Hebrew school this upcoming year. I've got my curriculum, so I actually know WHAT I'm teaching; now I just need to figure out HOW.

It looks good. I'm nervous as heck about it, because it's somewhat ambitious, and I just hope I'm up to the challenge. Anyone who wants to take a look at the curricula and make comments or suggestions, please do.

care will be taken to use the Temple's agreed translations

I'm rather curious how there could be a need for a specifically agreed upon translation for the enumerated phrases... ha'olam? ha'eitz? borei? They all just seem not to lend themselves to much debate.

Well, the Temple doesn't like to use patriarchal imagery. So "Melekh", for instance, isn't translated as "king", like it is everywhere else. Instead, following a rather obscure mystical tradition, they treat it as a cognate of "madrikh", and translate it as "Guide". Similarly for "Adoshem."

Are you at least allowed to explain that this isn't a literal translation, so they won't be confused later?

Mazal Tov! If you need any tips, ideas, sympathy, etc., feel free to email me, or call me (Tapuz has my number), or something. Looks interesting. I do have some ideas as to how to make things less confusing for the kids, if you like. After all, I *did* spend a year as an assistant teacher for Judaics (and English and Social Studies) at the Rashi School's middle school. :-)
