Yesterday was [livejournal.com profile] undauntra's birthday. So Lis and I went over to her and her fiance's place for dinner, and after a very yummy roast and potatoes, she mentioned that she was going into gaming withdrawal. Ben (her fiance) and I mentioned that, in high school, we used to do improv pick-up no-rules roleplaying games walking home from school, and [livejournal.com profile] cheshyre and undauntra said that sounded like fun, so I told 'em to pick a genre.

After a bit of noodling, where I realized I wasn't actually up to running regency romance or gothic (i.e., Wuthering Heights), we settled on one of the easiest-to-run genres: pulp. And, in about two hours of play, I got an antiquities professor of the Smithsonian, a cab driver with a Mysterious Past from Washington, and a plucky girl reporter all the way to being captured by a lost tribe of Aztecs. It was fun. I'd forgotten that I'm actually pretty good at that style of GMing.
