US President George W. Bush wants to get legislation to limit insurance liability for terrorist attacks.

Because, let's face it, if terrorists strike again and kill thousands more Americans, clearly, the government must act to protect Big Business.

Sigh.

Well, it's only fair. Big Business spent a lot of money on the last couple of elections; do you really expect them not to demand a good return on their investment?</sarcasm>

Also the legislation authorizing the new Homeland Security Office contains, buried in all its verbiage, a provision which exempts Eli Lilly from lawsuits over vaccines. Eli Lilly may have been facing lawsuits over whether their use of Thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative, in their vaccines for children causes autism.

Note: this is not to say that I neccesarily agree with the people claiming the vaccines caused autism, because I have not seen any reports on it. I just don't think that protecting a large drug company in this manner is appropriate.
