'Cause, well, I HAVE an appointment for my teeth. With Todd. Next week.
That was the whole point. I found a way to have my teeth looked at by a family member who's JUST been trained in composites.
My grandfather's office doesn't have the setup for composites. Tufts dental school does.
Yes, of course my grandfather knows I'm going to Todd for my teeth. He, in fact, has offered to pick up the clinic fees for me. He also took a complete set of xrays for Todd to work from.
See, the thing is -- I'm paranoid about mercury. And my grandfather has written some of the journal articles explaining why amalgam fillings are safe, and helped establish the position for the Massachusetts Dental Society that, in most cases, amalgam fillings are preferable to composite fillings. And, like I said, his clinic doesn't have the stuff for composites, and he doesn't work with them much. Which is why I wanted to go with someone who DOES work with composites, and, in fact, PREFERS working with composites over amalgam.

Date: 2004-04-21 04:35 pm (UTC)if you caught a tuna the size of connecticut with as much mercury in it as the average human has... it would be a hazardous waste problem.
There is also research that points to the removal of amalgam fillings reducing the symptoms of MS to the point of non detection.
I am currently suffering from a missing filling... it just decomposed in my mouth... I felt it.... it sort of turned to sand... and disappeared from my tooth...
I have been filling it with cotton and anbesol... until my dentist can see me.... apparently this isn't enough of an emergency for my provider.
STill... the worst thing in the world is bad teeth.
No one loves to see a rotten smile...
I envy you your proximity to good dental attention...
