Sephie isn't terribly impressed by catnip.

You know what she likes instead?

Fabric softener dryer sheets. "Bounce" brand, specifically.

Our cats have been "fed" marijuana since they were little kittens. One day a friend bought them a big bag of catnip. They sniffed the bag, looked up at him, sniffed the bag, and looked up as if to say, "What? This isn't weed." Haha.

Your cats may make ours look vaguely normal by comparison. Does pot do anything to cats? I'm not going to experiment to find out: one, we don't allow drugs in the house (mainly for legal liability reasons -- I'm not particularly anti-pot and think it should be legal), two, cats have all sorts of bizzare reactions to human medicine -- Tylenol can kill cats and dogs -- and three, if we DID have pot in the house, there are many other people who'd get dibs on it before the cats would.

Well, the cats are family so they get their portion of the firstfruits. It actually has relatively the same effects on cats as humans. Which is good for Resin, since he's so hyperactive and easily bored (he cries when he gets bored).

Beata once rescued a cat who had been given all sorts of drugs, including pot and acid. She found that if you held it out the window and said, "kitty wanna fly?" it would purr. Upon rescuing it, she promptly named it "Kitty Wanna Fly". That cat was always a little psycho...wonder why.

My brother claims that the extremely mellow and affectionate behavior of his ex-Cat (now residing with my parents) is due to said Cat's having inhaled lots and lots of pot smoke during her first year of existence, when she lived with him and his roommates in a Syracuse U dorm. I don't know if this is true, but it is true that she comes when she's called, which (it could be argued) is not normal cat behavior.

More to the point, she likes used dryer sheets.
I don't think new ones will do it for her.

Two of my cats like catnip but get kind of grouchy and aggressive when actually under the influence, so I don't give it to them. (I've never given any to the third cat, who was a later addition to the house.)

I've been told that mint and catnip are related, which may explain why one of my cats is very interested when I make mint tea but doesn't care about tea otherwise.
