My in-laws just had a son! The bris is in a week.

Our downstairs tenant was hit by a car last night and is still in the ICU.

Me, I'm exhausted. I'm holding emotions for both of those simultaneously. That is not pleasant.

Her brother and his wife. Cheshyre is an aunt. I am an uncle. We actually already were, because of my mother's foster-daughter's kids, but this is the first one on her side of the family.

I think a gathering of people praying over a RABBI (not a doctor, necessarily) hacking at an infantile ( therefore small) willy, sets the tone for exactly how much faith means.

Our prisons aren't filled with jews... they are filled with badly schooled Christians...

Well. . . you also have to look at the population sizes. If 90% of the people in prisons are more-or-less Christian, then, well, that'd just be 'cause that's the population from which they're selected.

And there are a decent number of Jewish strippers, fortunately. You just have to be in an area with a large enough Jewish population.

Thanks. But before you pat us (I am Jewish) on the back too much, I have to admit some things:

There have been Jewish youth gangs. I think the paucity now, in the U.S., is mainly due to the fact that youth gangs are primarily formed among children of immigrants of low income. When the east side of New York was full of poor, immigrant jews, there were Jewish gangs. (You know the musical West Side Story, where the rival gangs are the Puerto Ricans and the Polish kids? At around the same time (or possibly earlier), the East side was Jewish and Italian. The musical was almost "East Side Story", actually...

Mass murderers... not many leap to mind, but Baruch Goldstein killing 29 (or 30) Muslims in Hevron certainly counts in my book.

Crack whores and strippers... I'm sure there are, but they're probably not as visible... and how would one know that such a person was Jewish?

Actually, the person doing the snipping doesn't have to be a Rabbi. All that's really required is that they have really sharp knives. In practice the Mohel (that's the technical term) probably ends up getting lots of practice, because they do it a lot. Which is not to say that I've ever had the guts to actually look at what he's doing even though I've ended up with a clear view a couple of times.

(OK, since it was just purim, here's a joke. The time: years ago. The place: a crowded street in a jewish area of town, inside a small storefront.)

He's working on-call at the Harvard Club, no benefits, and I think he's mostly under the table at a garage down the street.

Notgood. That means it'll have to get covered by the driver's catastrophic part of their auto insurance; and if not all of it is covered your tenant may need to seek legal remedy. Lots of people in MA get the bare minimum.

I'm just worried it was a hit & run. Haven't seen the police report yet, but given he was apparently hit coming home from work (which meant he would've left Oak Grove sometime between 11pm and when the T stopped running) and the police only came by our house to inform us/find his mother's contact information after noon...

I don't know, and that not knowing is stressing me...
