They're taking me off the Grill Bar -- training someone else for it.

John, the beverage manager, was very apologetic, and promised to make sure that I get plenty of work doing functions.

Apparently, Monique decided that I was too slow behind the bar, so they're getting someone faster.

What confuses me is that I was under the impression that I am reasonably fast. I mean, the rest of the waitstaff seemed to think I was pretty fast.

So, I'm confused. And I wonder if the new guy is actually going to be any faster than me. And I wonder what they'll do if he's not.

Ouch.

*hugs*

Monique is the manager?

Does Monique have personal issues?

This hasn't sounded like all that busy a restaurant except during holidays and functions.

That sucks! A warning would have been nice so you could have tried to speed up anyhow, IF that's the real issue. It sounds like you think there is another reason, though? Well, I hope you can still get enough work there. Good luck.

*frown*

Is there any way you can ask John for his opinion of your speed? Off the record at least?

And, will you still have regular work at the Club, or just functions?

Just functions, for now. He's going to try to put me in the Commonwealth Lounge once they finish remodelling it.

Frankly, at this point, I just want to look into opening my own place.

I'm upset on your behalf!

For God's sake, what is it with people? Could she not have said ANYTHING to you? Jesus Haploid Christ!

I hope she screws this up royally and ends up having to beg your pardon!

What the...? Aren't managers who have objections to their employees' performance supposed to say something to, y'know, try to correct the problem? This sounds like an excuse, not a reason.

As I said, this is why I'm baffled rather than angry.
