Chinese food and slow drains
Oct. 21st, 2003 10:44 pm1. Just a note for folks who live in or near Melrose: Number One Taste, the Chinese takeout place right next to the Melrose Highlands train station, has really icky food. Bleah.
2. Speaking of gross things, Dave and I snaked out the slow drain on the first floor. Well, Dave did most of the work -- but I think I actually was the one who got the clog out. Eeeew. My hands still smell bad after scrubbing them four times.

Date: 2003-10-21 09:38 pm (UTC)We knew when we moved into the area that "Number One Taste" did not look or smell promising. We lived half a mile away for more than 18 months, without considering ordering anything from them. But then a guest (someone's mother, which made her hard to argue with), wanted to try it. Oops.
If you're in that area, and looking for cheap takeout from unpromising-looking local storefronts..."Chicken Express - And Fish" is a pleasant surprise. The
chicken is quite good. We usually referred to the place as "slow fish."

If it was just one item, I'd be willing to write it off to a bad night. But when EVERYTHING is off, that makes me suspect it's the place itself.
I mean, we ate the stuff anyway, and we didn't get sick or anything. But there are better choices nearby.
