Um, lesse. . . .

I had my second hebrew school class last week; one anecdote from that: I was doing a presentation on the shofar later that day, and so I had a shofar, and my class was getting fidgety and spacey, so I snuck up behind some of them, and blew the shofar really loud, and all the kids jumped about seventeen feet, and started laughing. I explained that that's what the shofar is for: it wakes you up and gets your attention. Works, too,

I've been doing some function bartending and barbacking, and am still trained for the Comm Lounge. Dunno what my final assignment will be, but it's all good.

I just got back from Florida, where we went for Rosh Hashanah, with Lis's folks and my sister. Good services, I really like Lis's folks and my sister, the food was wonderful, and I fucking hate Florida and am still in pain from it, because going to Florida just messes up my body.

That's basically my last couple weeks.

The humidity messes you up? If so, I can empathize...

More the water.

Florida has no drinkable water. And you SHOWER in this stuff that's not really distinguishable from dilute sulphuric acid. The water smells nasty. I mean, you turn on the shower, and this STENCH of acid and chlorine rolls out, churning your stomach.

Um. Ew. That's horrible. It must be some kind of swamp thing. Around here we just have an amoeba bloom that makes even filtered water impalatable.

Yuck. I don't seem to recall reading that in Callahan's Key.

It's made from the horn of a kosher animal; usually a ram's horn, although it could be from another hooved, cud-chewing critter. It's basically just hollowed out horn. A skilled trumpet or bugle player would be able to play a melody on one, but generally the blasts are one note, rising at the end of the blast.

There are 3 types of blasts which are played: one long blast (Tekiah), three medium blasts, and a bunch of short blasts.
