I don't understand MSNBC

So, MSNBC fired Michael Savage. Because he's an obnoxious, loudmouthed, homophobic, bigoted asshole.

But, see, they hired him in the first place because he's an obnoxious, loudmouthed, homophobic, bigoted asshole. What exactly were they expecting?

They fired him because he didn't bring them ratings.

Everything else is window dressing.

Lis's theory is that, well, he told an actual viewer that he hoped he (the viewer) died. If that viewer DID die, Lis figures, that would have dropped Savage's ratings by like 14%.

She thinks he had a whole 7 viewers?

If that were the case MSNBC would've given him a raise (I know someone who works with MSNBC; my numbers may be a bit off, but not by much).

In any event I'm glad there is only one nationally-syndicated

Because television executives are, by and large, idiots.

Hey, they fired Donahue because they didn't like his politics - even though he had decent enough ratings. MSNBC isn't there to make money. I haven't figured out exactly what they *are* there for aside from pushing an agenda.
